What We Look For:The Hagan Foundation seeks projects that expand educational opportunity, inspire innovation, and create meaningful, lasting benefits for young people and communities throughout Eastern Washington.

Competitive proposals typically demonstrate:

Educational Impact: Projects that enhance learning, develop new skills, or create meaningful educational experiences for children and young adults.

Innovation: Creative, forward-thinking ideas that challenge traditional approaches and introduce new ways to engage learners or solve community challenges. 

Community Benefit: Projects with the potential to positively impact students, schools, families, or the broader community. 

Long-Term Sustainability: Initiatives that demonstrate a plan for lasting impact beyond the initial grant investment. 

Responsible Stewardship: Well-planned projects with realistic budgets that maximize community benefit and align with the Foundation's philosophy of doing "the most good with the least amount of money for the greatest number of people." 

Eligibility

Who Can Apply: The Hagan Foundation welcomes applications from organizations that share our commitment to expanding educational opportunities for children and young people. 

Applicants must: 

• Be a nonprofit organization/school (public or private) with 501(c)(3) status (public and private schools are exempt)

• Serve students from birth through higher education 

• Be located in or primarily serve communities within Educational Service District 101, including Adams, Ferry, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, and Whitman counties

• Have organizational leadership and board support for the proposed project

Projects We Typically Don’t Fund

To help applicants determine whether a project is a good fit, clearly note that the Foundation generally does not fund: 

• Employee salaries

• Individual scholarships

• Projects outside the Foundation's geographic service area

• Requests that do not align with the Foundation's mission and educational focus
